Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office collecting evidence in fatal shooting

Calhoun County Sheriff’s investigators are collecting evidence tonight in a fatal shooting.

It happened around 7:00 p.m. Thursday at home on Schuman Ferry Road in the Schuman Ferry community, a few miles northwest of Blountstown.

Sheriff’s Glenn Kimbrel told News13 the shooting was apparently the result of a domestic quarrel between a husband and wife.

He says the woman fired one shot at her husband, then called 911 and reported the shooting. The man died at the scene. Kimbrel said his deputies knew the couple but hadn’t had any problems at the home in the past.

He also says the wife is exercising her rights and is not giving much information. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement’s mobile crime lab from Pensacola is on the way to the scene.

News13 has a reporter on the scene as well and will have more on the story as soon as it’s available.
