Cape Coral woman arrested after DUI crash injures pedestrian on Beach Parkway

A Cape Coral woman was arrested after being accused of seriously injuring a pedestrian in a crash along Beach Parkway in Cape Coast Monday night.

According to the Cape Coral Police Department, officers responded to a traffic crash near the Beach Parkway and SE 19th Avenue around 8 p.m.

The crash involved a red Ford Escape, which police say was driven by R M N, 56. N veered to the right, striking a pedestrian as he walked in the bike lane along the roadway, officers say witnesses confirmed.

The person who was struck by the vehicle suffered a serious injury, and no further details have been released.

Officers said they saw signs of impairment in N, and she failed a field sobriety test. She was arrested on charges of Driving Under the Influence (DUI).

N was transported to the hospital, where a breath test showed a BAC of 0.118%, above the legal limit of 0.08%.

N was taken to the Lee County Jail and faces charges of DUI and serious bodily injury to another, a third-degree felony.
