Cargo train stalls after collision in West Palm Beach, causing delays

A cargo train sits idle after a collision in downtown West Palm Beach early Friday morning, causing traffic delays.

The train reportedly collided with a vehicle on the tracks near the Quadrille Boulevard and Clematis Street crossings. The vehicle erupted into flames during the wreck, sending smoke billowing over the scene.

No one was inside the vehicle at the time of the crash, according to the fire department. The freight train was directed to the Brightline station tracks after the collision.

First responders are blocking off the affected areas as they investigate.
