A 24-year-old flight instructor from Martin County died in a single-vehicle car crash near Jupiter this month, days before what would have been her 25th birthday. A 32-year-old man accused of robbing a bank and taking off was arrested a day after the incident, according to officials. The Tampa Police Department says officers responded to the 600 block of S. A mother and father appeared in court Monday, accused of leaving their son locked in a hot car while they went shopping at a Target in Aventura. According to an arrest report, Paola Palencia-Rodriguez and Melvin Maimes went shopping Saturday morning and left their 2-year-old sleeping in the car with the windows rolled up and the ignition off. “You made a decision to let your child sleep in a hot car. On Sunday afternoon, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office responded to a possible traffic collision that resulted in a DUI arrest. According to officials, deputies responded to the area of Bumpnose Road in Marianna and found a white Chevrolet truck without a license plate stuck in a ditch. The driver, Roy Collins, was asleep in the driver’s seat with open alcoholic beverages in the vehicle, officials said. Collins was asked to step out of the vehicle and showed signs of impairment.
