A young mother is behind bars after police say she was driving drunk when she crashed her car with her child in the backseat. Authorities report that she did not attempt to rescue her child from the wrecked vehicle. Josefina Lopez, 21, is facing charges after Clermont Police allege she was intoxicated when she crashed her car with her child on board. A 14-year-old boy was shot Thursday afternoon in St. Petersburg, according to police. The teen was near 20th Avenue South and 44th Street South when another group fired several shots, police said. The teen went to a nearby house for help. He was taken to John Hopkins All Children’s Hospital in critical but stable condition, police said. No other details were immediately available. A 3-year-old was hit and killed by a car Thursday evening near Tampa while he was riding his bike with his family, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office. A Punta Gorda man was arrested after reportedly hitting a motorcyclist while driving under the influence in Port Charlotte on Saturday. A massage therapist is facing two felony charges after police said he sexually battered a client during an at-home session in Plantation in January.
