A Florida man is facing animal cruelty charges after Collier County deputies found his dog tethered to a pole outside during heavy rainfall, according to the Collier County Sheriff’s Office. 43-year-old Romeo Gabriel-Lopez allegedly left his dog, a bully terrier named Robo, tied up outside with no way to escape the downpour. A single-vehicle crash took place Wednesday afternoon in northeast Leon County, leaving a 19-year-old dead, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. Deputies are investigating after a man was shot and killed in an Orange County neighborhood. The shooting happened shortly after midnight at the intersection of 35th Street and Woods Avenue, an area just south of downtown Orlando. The daughter of a candidate for sheriff of Dixie County has been sentenced to spend two years in prison on child abuse and drug charges. Deputies arrested Sara Ridgeway, 43, more than a year ago after they say they found her passed out in her car from using heroin. A young child was also in the car.
