A bicyclist is dead after being hit by a car in Osceola early Sunday morning, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.  Troopers are investigating the cause of the collision at Florence Villa Road and Westside Boulevard. Preliminary evidence indicates the bicyclist was taken to a nearby hospital where he was later pronounced dead, according to a press release. A woman is suing Walt Disney Parks after she said she lost consciousness and suffered a brain injury after riding a slide at Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon water park, according to a lawsuit filed in Orange County earlier this week.  Laura Reyes-Merino visited the park on May 11 and rode Humunga Kowabunga, a 60-degree angle, 214-foot, downhill and enclosed body slide, according to the lawsuit.  She said she went unconscious after “banging inside the side,” the lawsuit said. One man is dead following an early morning crash in Orange County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The crash happened just before 2:30 a.m. in the area of Orange Blossom Trail and Jones Avenue, according to officials. Investigators said the 42-year-old man was driving the wrong way along Orange Blossom Trail before crashing head-on into a woman driving an SUV.  The man was taken to an area hospital where he later died, according to officials.  A tanker truck overturned across the northbound lanes of Florida’s Turnpike in southwest Miami-Dade early Friday evening. The crash happened at around 5 p.m. near the Kendall Drive offramp. Video from Sky 10 also showed two crashed SUVs. All northbound lanes were blocked, causing a traffic mess during rush hour. Several hours after the crash, authorities used a crane to get the tanker truck upright before it was eventually towed away. It’s not clear if anyone was injured or killed.

A 21-year-old Pensacola woman is dead after being struck by a pickup truck in Escambia County on Sunday night, according to Florida Highway Patrol. Crews responded to 2830 Neptune Road Friday morning, a canal that links Lake Tohopekaliga and East Lake Tohopekaliga. A man was arrested for holding his mother hostage in a Riverview apartment Thursday night, according to officials. The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said deputies arrived at the Allegro Palm apartment complex around 9:26 p.m. after receiving a call about a domestic disturbance. When they arrived, deputies said they made contact with a family member who told them the suspect, Najah Strickland, 29, barricaded himself and his mother, Chaketa Mister, 47, in the apartment.
