A man was struck and killed Sunday night in South Daytona, according to the police department. The crash happened around 10:37 p.m. in the 1900 block of S. Ridgewood Ave. According to the South Daytona Police Department, Tommy L. Cox was hit by a vehicle and taken to Halifax Hospital, where he died. Former big-league shortstop Yuniesky Betancourt, who appeared in parts of nine MLB seasons, is facing up to 10 years in prison if he’s convicted following an arrest last week in Miami-Dade County on several charges.
