A 73-year-old Ocala man was killed on Thursday after his car veered off a local roadway and struck a tree. The fatal crash occurred at around 4:55 p.m. on Thursday, September 12, near the intersection of Baseline Road and NE 24th Street. According to Detective Angel Rodriguez, officers responded to the area of Northwest 17th Avenue and 69th Street just before 3:30 a.m. after receiving reports about a person being shot in the area.
