Photo: WPLG A deputy was hurt while responding to a fatal fiery crash late Friday in northwest Miami-Dade near Miami-Opa Locka Executive Airport, authorities confirmed Saturday. The initial crash occurred around 11:55 p.m. near Northwest 135th Street and Northwest 57th Avenue, according to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office. Investigators said a vehicle struck a tree and caught fire. They said Miami-Dade Fire Rescue crews extinguished the flames and pronounced the male driver, who has not been identified, dead at the scene.

 A tractor trailer overturned in Sunrise, shutting down a lane of traffic as crews attempted to remove the vehicle, according to officials from the Sunrise Police department. The accident shut down the exit ramp from the Sawgrass expressway to West Sunrise Boulevard. The driver suffered minor injuries and was not taken to the hospital. The truck ended up in a water retention area, which caused the lane closure as crews worked to remove it. Delays are expected in the area.
