Hurricane Milton caused significant damage to a Cape Coral home. On Wednesday, around 9 p.m., a single-family home burst into flames off of Chiquita Boulevard in northwest Cape Coral. Neighbors said the fire was likely caused by a downed transformer. There are several downed transformers in Cape Coral caused by the strong wind from Milton. A Hollywood police officer is recovering after being injured during a shooting Thursday morning, authorities confirmed. Deanna Bettineschi, a spokeswoman with the Hollywood Police Department, confirmed that the officer is “being treated for their injuries at the hospital,” but is expected to recover.
