Florida prosecutors intend to seek the death penalty against Julie Sulpizio, the woman accused of a religious-backed, doomsday-style “ambush” that allegedly led to the shooting death of a Lake County deputy, and the injuring of two others. Prosecutors filed their decision with the Fifth Judicial Circuit of the State of Florida on Tuesday afternoon, a spokesperson for the State Attorney’s Office confirmed to FOX 35 Orlando. A 25-year-old woman was killed after crashing her car into an active construction zone early Tuesday morning. The Florida Highway Patrol says the crash happened just after midnight in the westbound lanes of I-4 near SR-528. They say the woman was driving on I-4 westbound from Sand Lake Road through an active construction zone when she hit an unoccupied, parked car in the construction zone. Troopers say the woman’s car then rotated and she was partially ejected from her car.

 A man armed with large weight plates from a weight bench was shot and killed by a Highlands County deputy, the sheriff’s office said. According to Sheriff Paul Blackman, deputies were called to reports of a man threatening others with a knife off West Hill Street in Avon Park shortly before 10 p.m. Tuesday. Blackman said Alberto Rodriguez, 28, resisted arrest and deputies used a taser to try and subdue him, but it had no effect. Rodriguez then managed to escape deputies’

Two men were hospitalized after a crash led to a shooting in Orange County on Tuesday night, deputies said. Authorities responded shortly after 8 p.m. to the intersection of Allegheny Court and Ambassador Drive, where they discovered two men in their 20s who had been involved in an altercation following the crash.  The confrontation escalated to gunfire, resulting in injuries to both men. A Boca Raton man, 22, died in a crash involving a sport utility vehicle and semitractor-trailer on Interstate 95 near Vero Beach over the weekend.
