A pedestrian was struck and killed by a Brightline train in Deerfield Beach, authorities said. The Wedgewood Community Center in Escambia County has remained closed since a mass shooting there on July 28. Two people were killed and five others were injured near a pavilion outside the center. A man was arrested after deputies say he stole approximately $800 worth of Lego sets from a Target in North Naples. According to the Collier County Sheriff’s Office, on the afternoon of June 24, a man later identified as Juan Sarmina-Flores, 20, entered the store at 2415 Tarpon Bay Blvd. The asset protection officer recognized Sarmina-Flores as the same man who was wanted in theft cases at two Cape Coral Target stores a few days prior. A Fort Myers man was arrested after allegedly speeding past cops at more than 110 miles per hour in a stolen car before attempting to hide in apartments on Saturday. Pete Bertolotti, 30, was arrested on Saturday after Lee County deputies saw him driving past them at the McGregor Boulevard and Williams Road intersection. Cape Coral police say at least one person is dead after a house fire on SW 6th Avenue in Cape Coral early Thursday morning. Police say one adult male victim was found in the fire before being transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. Investigators also found a dead cat in the fire. The Clearwater Police Department needs help identifying two suspects in an armed robbery at a local Publix store. Police said around 7 p.m. on Wednesday, two male suspects who were on bicycles outside the store grabbed a gun from the holster of a security guard. A 17-year-old was killed and an 18-year-old was injured after a shooting on Wednesday night in Pierson, according to the Volusia Sheriff’s Office.  The incident happened in the area of 380 Main Street around 10:15 p.m.  When deputies arrived, they found a car that had crashed into the wood line along Main Street.
