A stretch of eastbound Interstate 4 in Polk County has reopened to traffic following a crash, according to the Florida Department of Transportation. The crash happened after 6 a.m. in the eastbound lanes toward Orlando just before U.S. Highway 27. This is located north of the Davenport area in eastern Polk County. Traffic cameras in the area showed cars backed up for about a mile from the crash. The closure was relatively brief, with law enforcement reopening the highway around 6:40 a.m.

A pair of teens triggered trouble in Fort Lauderdale. According to Fort Lauderdale Police, they were advised that a 16-year-old boy has arrived at Broward Health Medical Center with a gunshot wound, Thursday morning. The teen told officers that he had accidentally shot himself in the area of Northwest 24th Avenue and Panther Lane. His injuries were not life-threatening. A motorcyclist died after colliding with a car in Osceola County on Thursday, the Florida Highway Patrol said. Shortly after 4 p.m., troopers responded to the intersection of Simpson Road and Boggy Terrace Drive in Kissimmee. Two dogs were surrendered to Escambia County following a dog attack in Cantonment earlier this month. On Feb. 11, Animal Control responded to the 2400-block of Brookwood Place for a dog attack. The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) says a pedestrian was struck and killed in Orange County on Wednesday evening. Around 7 p.m., troopers responded to reports of a crash near the intersection of Conway Gardens and Anderson roads. A preliminary investigation indicates that a 2013 Infiniti G37 hit the woman who was transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center, where she was pronounced deceased.   The 34-year-old driver, an Orlando woman, remained at the scene.  Traffic homicide investigators are gathering information.
