Child killed in e-bike crash in Jupiter; driver and second boy hospitalized

A child is dead following a crash involving a vehicle and an e-bike on Thursday, according to the Jupiter Police Department.

According to the Palm Beach County Fire Rescue (PBCFR), at around 7:50 p.m., units were dispatched to Indian Creek Parkway and South Pennock Lane after receiving reports of the crash.

Upon arrival, police learned there were two boys traveling on an e-bike when the crash occurred. One of the boy’s was taken to a hospital as a trauma alert. The other boy was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

Jupiter Police say the driver of the vehicle was also taken to the hospital with minor injuries. At this time, it’s unclear how old the two boys were.

Indian Creek Parkway will be closed from Military Trail to Central Boulevard due to the crash. Travelers are asked to seek alternative routes.

At this time the crash is under investigation by the Jupiter Police Department. If anyone has information they can contact police at 561-746-6201.

This is the second crash CBS12 has reported on where someone died while riding an e-bike on Thursday. Earlier in the day in Stuart, a man died after his e-bike collided with a car shortly before sunrise.

The crash happened at the intersection of U-S 1 and Southeast Morningside Drive.

Deputies with the Martin County Sheriff’s Office advised everyone to drive cautiously, especially those who are traveling on e-bikes.
