Pinellas Park police are investigating a shooting involving a 12-year-old child on Sunday afternoon.
Officials who were dispatched to the scene around 2 p.m. found the boy with a gunshot wound. The area in which the child was shot was not disclosed.
The boy was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, according to the police department.
Police confirmed Sunday that the incident was not a random act.
The shooting remains under investigation.
