Clermont woman arrested after committing multiple traffic violations in school zone, biting deputy: PCSO

A Clermont woman was arrested after speeding through a school zone and other traffic violations on Tuesday.

L A, 23, was driving by Ridgeview Global Studies in Davenport when a Polk County Sheriff’s deputy pulled her over.

The deputy witnessed a black Nissan speeding through the school zone, looking at an iPad, and not driving with a seatbelt, according to Polk County Sheriff’s Office.

A told the deputy she did not have her license with her, and when the deputy ran her information through the database, he found that her license was suspended in September of 2024, deputies said.

Deputies searched the vehicle and found the suspended license in the car, marijuana, and a grinder in her purse.

According to PCSO, Alexandre became combative and elbowed the deputy in the chest as they were taking her into custody.

“I don’t know if Ms. A celebrates Christmas or not, but she’s certainly not spreading joy this season. In fact she’s done everything possible to ensure she’ll be in the county jail instead of spending time with her family at Christmas. here’s a tip- if you’re driving illegally, you probably shouldn’t draw attention to yourself by speeding through a school zone while looking at a mobile device and not wearing your seatbelt,” Sheriff Grady Judd said.

A arrived at the Sheriff’s Processing Center in Winter Haven and became aggressive in the back of the patrol car, deputies said.

A detention deputy assisted the deputy sheriff in getting A into the center, but A bit the detention deputy on the arm and tried to bite him again.

A was charged with traffic citations, two counts of battery on a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest, resisting arrest with violence, possession of marijuana and paraphernalia, possession of a suspended driver’s license, and driving while license suspended.
