Crash in Cocoa kills 1

A crash in Cocoa killed one person Tuesday morning, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash happened on northbound Interstate 95 near mile marker 204 at around 11:45 a.m.

A 2005 Nissan Titan was traveling northbound in the outside lane with a ruptured tire, causing the driver to overcorrect. The vehicle then rotated and began to overturn, stopping on the driver’s side on the grass shoulder.

The driver was a 79-year-old male who was ejected and airlifted to the hospital before he was pronounced dead. The passenger was a 47-year-old female who stayed on the scene without injuries. Both were from Clewiston.

There is no roadblock to the area as investigations continue.
