Firefighters responded to the scene of a structure fire on the 200 block of Spring Hill Lake Loop in Cape Coral on Friday morning.
Crews reportedly arrived on the scene at 1:30 a.m. to find a garage engulfed in flames.
Firefighters say the three residents and their two dogs were woken up by their smoke alarms and were able to safely exit the home.
Firefighters were able to contain the fire to the garage, but smoke damage extended throughout the residence, so the building inspector red-tagged the structure.
The Red Cross is reportedly assisting the residents with temporary housing.
Crews say the fire started in the vehicle in the garage and was determined to be accidental.
