Deputies: Brevard County men arrested for attempted murder after road rage shooting

Deputies arrested two men from Brevard County, Florida, accused of shooting into an SUV carrying a couple and three children. Volusia County deputies assisted Brevard County deputies with the investigation.

Deputies responded to the shooting in the Mims area around 6:45 p.m. on Saturday. The victims reported they were traveling east on State Road 46 when a black Dodge pickup started tailgating them.

Deputies said the truck passed their SUV, forced them halfway off the road, cut them off, and stopped in front of them.

Two men got out of the truck, fired several shots at the victims’ vehicle, and left the scene. The couple had three children, ages 1, 4, and 6, in the back seat of the SUV at the time.

Deputies spotted nine bullet holes in the vehicle as well as a shattered front passenger window. Fortunately, no one was hurt.

The victims called 911 and followed at a distance as the truck headed into Brevard County, where Brevard County deputies located it and conducted a felony traffic stop.

The accused shooters, 45-year-old driver Chad Morrow of Cocoa and 52-year-old passenger Chad McAninch of Port St. John were taken into custody and each charged with two counts of attempted murder and three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

The Volusia Sheriff’s Office said they have located the gun that was used in the road rage shooting.

They credited the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office for tracking the gun via a Twitter post.
