Deputies investigating shooting of 23-year-old woman in Escambia County

41-year-old Richard Burt is now being held in Escambia County Jail on charges of drug possession, larceny, and probation violation.

Deputies are investigating the shooting of a 23-year-old woman Friday night in Escambia County.

It happened in the 3800-block of E Mallory Street.

According to the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office, upon arrival, deputies found the woman with a gunshot wound. She was transported to the hospital.

Deputies continue to investigate the circumstances of the shooting.

The sheriff’s office says Richard Burt, 41, is wanted for questioning only in the shooting. He also has an active warrant for probation violation.
