A Destin home was destroyed in a “major fire” early Tuesday morning.

It broke out around 3:20 a.m. at 4463 Clipper Cove, Destin.

“Residents woke to the house on fire,” the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office says. “Shortly after the 911 call, the house was fully engulfed. Several neighboring residences caught fire and others have heat damage. All occupants escaped, some incurred minor injuries, and some had to jump from the second story balcony.”

Destin Fire says, “crews started an aggressive attack and worked hard to protect multiple exposures which were starting to ignite.”

“A second alarm was called and multiple aerial trucks were set up throughout the neighborhood for additional exposures,” the department adds.

The residence is a complete loss following the fire.

Deputies worked to clear surrounding residences due to high winds carrying ash throughout the neighborhood.

The fire is currently under investigation by the State Fire Marshal’s Office.
