A man has been arrested on a DUI charge after being accused of crashing into a firefighter responding to a crash scene in North Fort Myers.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the unnamed firefighter was responding to a crash where a bear was hit and killed around 9 p.m. Sunday near the Bayshore Road exit on Interstate 75.

Troopers say Herminio Olvera Sanchez, 43, crashed into the firefighter, injuring him and sending the firefighter to the hospital.

Northbound lanes of I-75 were closed for hours.

Sanchez faces charges of DUI and driving without a license.

NBC2 is working to confirm the condition of the firefighter.
