A man was arrested after a woman was killed in a crash in Tampa on Wednesday, officers said.

The Tampa Police Department said Junior Castillo Sanchez, 42, was taken into custody after the crash. According to officers, he has never been issued a valid driver’s license.

Police said they responded to the intersection of South Carter Street and West Julia Street shortly after 12:30 p.m., where they found the woman dead.

According to authorities, Sanchez was driving northbound on Carter Street and was approaching West Julia Street when he didn’t stop for the woman. At the time of the crash, she was crossing the intersection.

West Julia Street was closed between South MacDill Avenue and Bayshore Boulevard while they investigated the crash.
