A Clearwater man was charged with DUI after slamming into a police cruiser stopped along the Courtney Campbell Causeway on Thursday.
Jerry Wayne Sandefur Jr., 45, struck a Clearwater Police Department cruiser that was stopped to help with a disabled vehicle at 11 p.m., according to an arrest report.
The impact caused the cruiser to spin around, and then Sandefur’s vehicle struck the disabled vehicle, propelling it into another vehicle. The damage was estimated at $70,000.
