A fatal crash Friday afternoon prompted the closure of southbound Interstate 95 in southern Brevard County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred around 1:43 p.m. in the area of mile marker 161, near Sebastian, troopers said.
According to a preliminary FHP crash report, the crash involved a 2012 Chevrolet Malibu and a 2021 Toyota Corolla. Identification is pending for one occupant of the Toyota who was pronounced dead at the scene, the report states.
The Chevrolet driver and another occupant of the Toyota were hospitalized for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, troopers said.
A roadblock remained in the southbound lanes of I-95 at the time of this report.
