FHP: Motorcyclist killed after losing control, striking trees in Volusia County

A motorcyclist died on Sunday after losing control of his bike in Volusia County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The man was passing traffic on the shoulder when he lost control and overcorrected. The bike ran off the road and hit two trees, according to the FHP.

The 38-year-old victim was thrown off his bike and killed.

Troopers said the crash caused a blockage northbound I-95 exit ramp to SR-400.

Drivers were told to seek alternative routes; however, the lanes are now reopened.

The crash remains under investigation.
