Firefighters extinguish blaze at Miami restaurant

Photo by: Square Pie City in Miami

A fire was reported Tuesday morning at a restaurant in Miami.

Sky 10 was above Square Pie City – a Detroit-style pizza restaurant, located at 3918 N. Miami Ave. – shortly after 6 a.m. as firefighters were working to extinguish the blaze.

Smoke appeared to be coming from the inside of the restaurant, but flames weren’t visible from the outside at that time.

Miami Fire Rescue officials said a woman who lives in an apartment on the second floor of the building smelled smoke and evacuated her apartment with her dog.

Just before 6:30 a.m. an older man was seen being placed into a fire rescue truck.

Officials confirmed the pizzeria sustained heavy damage in the fire.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

No other details were immediately released.
