The St. Lucie County Fire District (SLCFD) had a busy day on Tuesday, responding to three significant fires in the area: a semi-truck fire, a residential structure fire, and a camper van fire.

According to officials, the first incident occurred at approximately 12:40 p.m., when SLCFD crews and the Indian River County Fire Department responded to a semi-truck fire in the northbound lanes of the Turnpike in Fort Pierce.

SLCFD reported that later in the afternoon, at around 3:17 p.m., multiple units were dispatched to a residential structure fire on West Caribbean Drive in Port St. Lucie.

No other structures were threatened, and no injuries were reported. However, one person was displaced from their home, and the cause of the fire is currently under investigation, the report noted.

SLCFD reported that at about 7:15 p.m., an unoccupied fifth-wheel camper caught fire in the 5300 block of Keel Way on North Hutchinson Island. Firefighters faced challenging conditions as they battled the flames amid heavy rain.

Officials stated that crews contained the fire to the camper itself, preventing it from spreading to nearby structures. No injuries were reported. The cause of this fire is also under investigation.
