Florida man killed when speeding car crashes into building, setting both on fire

A 63-year-old Silver Springs man was killed Monday night in a single-vehicle wreck in Marion County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The fatal crash was reported around 8 p.m. along State Road 40 near NE 14 Street Road.

The FHP said the man was driving a car west on S.R. 40 at a high rate of speed when the vehicle left the road on a curve and struck three vehicles in the parking lot of the Forest Veterinary Clinic.

The man’s car then struck a tree and overturned into a building, both of which became engulfed in flames, the FHP said.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

No one else was injured.
