Five Gainesville residents are out of their home after a house fire in the Historic Porters neighborhood.
According to Gainesville Fire Rescue, firefighters responded to calls to a home on Southwest 4th Avenue that was on fire just after 2:30 Monday morning.
Firefighters were able to maneuverer through the building despite low visibility and the multiplex nature of the building and put out the fire.
There were no injuries reported, and firefighters rescued a cat.
District Chief Mike Steele stated “The quick actions of the crews stopped the fire from spreading to nearby structures.”
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
