A 47-year-old Hawthorne man was killed early Friday morning after his vehicle overturned on County Road 219A in Alachua County.
The fatal rollover crash occurred at around 4:50 a.m. on County Road 219A, south of the County Road 1474 intersection, in Hawthorne.
According to a preliminary report from the Florida Highway Patrol, the man was heading southbound on CR 219A when his vehicle, a 2001 Mazda pickup truck, veered off the roadway for unknown reasons.
Shortly after leaving the roadway, the pickup truck proceeded to overturn.
The driver and sole occupant of the pickup truck sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. His name was not released by FHP.
The report stated that the man was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.
The crash remains under investigation, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
