Hit-and-run suspect surrenders to police in case of crash that killed 74-year-old

After a nearly four-month-long investigation, a hit-and-run suspect surrendered to Jupiter police in the case of a deadly crash.

On Jan. 12, officials responded to the crash on Parkside Drive and University Boulevard in Jupiter around 7 p.m. Paramedics responded as well.

When the paramedics arrived, they pronounced a 74-year-old man dead on the scene.

In a press release Thursday, police said after “diligent pursuit of leads and exhaustive investigative efforts,” they were able to identify the suspect as Jason Todd Long, of Palm Beach Gardens.

Long turned himself in at the Jupiter Police Department on Wednesday.

He had his first appearance in Palm Beach County court on Thursday morning.

The Jupiter Police Department extended its deepest sympathies to the man’s family and loved ones.
