FBI agents, with help from the Spanish National Police, arrested the husband of a missing South Florida woman who vanished after she traveled to Madrid last February, according to NBC affiliate WTVJ.
David Knezevich was arrested Sunday at Miami International Airport after flying in from his home country of Serbia, where he had been for months, WTVJ said.
The station reported that Knezevich was arrested as the alleged perpetrator in his wife’s disappearance.
Ana María Knezevich Henao, 40, disappeared on February 2 in Madrid. Ana María lived in Fort Lauderdale and arrived in Madrid last December amid a nasty divorce from Knezevich, according to WTVJ.
She vanished after a man in a motorcycle helmet reportedly spray-painted the lenses of the security cameras at Ana María’s Madrid apartment.
Two of her friends received separate messages the following day in both English and Spanish saying she ran off with a man she just met, according to WTVJ.
Police in Madrid and Fort Lauderdale began investigations shortly after.
