Jacksonville police investigate teen shooting death

A teenager has died after being shot Thursday in Jacksonville.

Police were called at 8:13 p.m. to the 300 block of West College Avenue for a report of shots fired. Officers found a yet-unidentified 18-year-old man with gunshot wounds, according to a Jacksonville Police report.

The teen was taken to Jacksonville Memorial Hospital, where he later died, according to the report.

Investigators believe the teen knew the shooter, but an arrest had not been made as of Friday morning. The victim’s name was being withheld until family members were notified.

Police are investigating along with the Morgan County Coroner’s Office and the Morgan County States Attorney’s Office.
