Leesburg Police investigate homicide that left 20-year-old dead

The Leesburg Police Department is investigating a deadly shooting that left a man dead Monday afternoon.

Officers responded at 2:30 p.m. to the 2200 block of Aitkin Loop in the Overlook at Lake Griffin neighborhood in reference to a shooting. When officers arrived, they located a victim lying in the front yard of a residence with multiple gunshot wounds.

The victim, who was later identified as 20-year-old James Jordan, was then transported to UF Health-Leesburg, where he was later pronounced dead.

“Leesburg officers immediately established a perimeter and requested our K9 unit,” a spokesperson from Leesburg police said in a news release. “Leesburg detectives and CSI also responded and conducted the on-scene investigation, including a canvas of nearby residences.”
