A 40-year-old man was arrested on allegations of hitting and seriously injuring a juvenile in Titusville and then fleeing the area, officials said Thursday.
The hit-and-run crash happened at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday near the intersection of North Singleton Avenue and Wilderness Lane.
According to police, J D S, of Titusville, was driving a 2018 Nissan Altima when he struck the victim, who was riding a Coleman mini motorbike. S did not stop and fled the scene, officials said.
The victim was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries, according to authorities.
Police said they were able to locate the suspected vehicle and then identify S as the driver.
S was located at his home and taken into custody. He was being held without bond.
S was arrested on charges of:
- Leaving the scene of a crash with serious bodily injuries
- Tampering with evidence
- Driving with a suspended license with knowledge
- Violation of probation
- Resisting an officer without violence
