Man dies after being struck by pickup, RV along Citrus County highway

An Inverness man died after being struck by multiple vehicles while trying to help an RV pull out of an RV park in the Lecanto area on Wednesday.

The Florida Highway Patrol said the 65-year-old was standing in the roadway on SR-44 near the intersection of North Maynard Avenue.

At 6:21 p.m., a Dodge pickup truck driven by a 30-year-old Dunellon man struck the pedestrian, knocking him to the ground. He was then run over by the RV, driven by a 64-year-old man from Montgomery, Alabama.

The Inverness man died from his injuries at the site of the crash.
