A 58-year-old Lehigh Acres man driving a dump truck died after a collision with an SUV along State Road 80 in Hendry County.
The crash happened Thursday morning around 7:05 a.m.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the man was headed west on State Road on the outside westbound lane. An SUV, driven by an 18-year-old LaBelle man, was going north on Birchwood Parkway at the intersection with State Road 80.
Reports say the SUV failed to yield for approaching traffic from the stop sign and went directly in the path of the truck.
The front right portion of the dump truck then collided with the right side of the SUV, according to the report.
The dump truck rotated and overturned after the collision. The driver of the dump truck was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead on the scene.
The LaBelle man suffered minor injuries, according to FHP. Troopers said the crash remains under investigation.
