Man shot to death in Best Buy parking lot shooting in Sanford; shooter sought

A man was shot and killed Tuesday night in the parking lot of a Best Buy in Sanford, according to police.

Officers responded around 8 p.m. to 1501 Rinehart Road, where they found Terance Darnell Pope, 21, injured in the parking lot. He was taken to the hospital, where he later died.

On Wednesday, News 6 confirmed Pope played college football at Davenport University in Michigan. According to his player bio, Pope was on the roster for the 2021, 2022, and 2023 seasons and is from DeBary.

No other information, including what led to the shooting, was released.

“At this time investigators are asking anyone in the area at that time who may have seen something, or anyone who has information about this incident to contact the Sanford Police Department,” the Sanford Police Department said in a release.
