A man who was sitting next to a discount store was seriously injured after being struck by Riveria Beach Police Department officer’s cruiser Tuesday afternoon, the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office (PBSO) reported.
According to the report, the pedestrian sat down on the curb of the parking lot of a Family Dollar store on North Congress Avenue.
Shortly after 2:30 p.m., the officer took a right turn off Congress Ave. and into the parking lot when his cruiser hit the curb then struck the man, PBSO stated. The officer told investigators he did not see the pedestrian or the curb.
The 75-year-old man was rushed to a local hospital with serious injuries.
