Marion County firefighters put out barn fire in Umatilla

Marion County firefighters extinguish a barn fire early Tuesday morning.

According to Marion County Fire Rescue, units were called to the 24000 block of Southeast Highway 42 in Umatilla around 5:30 a.m. after multiple 911 callers reported a large barn fully in flames.

Firefighters found the 5,000 square-foot barn 50% in flames. Crews noted the involvement of multiple propane tanks and reported several explosions during the fire as they worked to put out the fire.

Firefighters had the fire under control just after 7:30 a.m. and crews remained on scene to make sure the fire was completely put out.

There were no injuries reported, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
