Marion County firefighters rescue dog from house fire

Marion County Fire Rescue (MCFR) firefighters responded to a house fire in Southwest Marion County Sunday morning.

MCFR firefighters said they responded around 11 a.m. to the 11000 block of Southwest 72nd Avenue in Ocala.

Firefighters arrived after reports of smoke coming from the home, a person stuck in the driveway, and a dog still inside the home.

Crews arrived shortly to assess patient care and extinguish the fire.

Firefighters brought Tia, the homeowner’s dog, out of the home and immediately began treating her with an oxygen mask.

The homeowner was taken to the hospital for further treatment.
