An 18-year-old woman was killed and four other teenagers were injured in a Hernando County crash late Monday night, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred shortly after 10 p.m. at the intersection of Tundra Drive and Brookridge Central Boulevard.
The Highway Patrol said a 17-year-old New Port Richey boy was traveling eastbound in an Infiniti Q50 and failed to negotiate a curve at the intersection.
The vehicle went off the road, and rotated before overturning and landing upright in a retention pond, according to the Highway Patrol.
One of the passengers, an 18-year-old New Port Richey woman, was ejected from the crash. She suffered serious injuries and was taken to the hospital, where she later died.
The driver, and three other passengers, an 18-year-old and 19-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman, all from New Port Richey, suffered minor injuries from the crash.
According to police, the driver, the 19-year-old man, and the 19-year-old woman were all wearing seatbelts. The 18-year-old man and the woman who died were not wearing seatbelts.
