One person has died after a boating accident in Sarasota Bay on Friday evening.
The incident occurred near Longboat Key in Manatee County around 6:30 p.m., when a vessel traveling on the Intracoastal Waterway struck a channel marker.
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission (FWC), Longboat Police Department, Manatee County Fire Rescue, and the U.S. Coast Guard all responded to the scene.
Seven people were on board at the time of the crash. Two of the passengers were transported to a local hospital, and one died as a result of the accident.
The crash is under active investigation by the FWC.
