One dead after tractor-trailer crash on I-75 in Ocala

One person was reported dead Sunday night after a vehicle crash with a disabled tractor-trailer I-75 in Ocala.

According to Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) troopers, around 4 p.m. Sunday, FHP troopers were dispatched after a Dodge Challenger rear-ended a stopped tractor-trailer in the emergency lane on the southbound lane of I-75 near mile marker 359. The right and center lanes were blocked off but have been cleared at the time of publication, according to FHP’s live traffic crash and road condition report.

Marion County Fire Rescue paramedics declared the sole passenger of the Challenger dead. FHP Lieutenant Patrick Riordan said the traffic homicide investigation is still underway. According to a press release, the victim was a 27-year-old male from Gainesville.

According to Florida Department of Transportation traffic cameras, traffic is still backed up across all three lanes.
