One person is dead after a two-vehicle crash late Saturday night in Polk City.
According to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to 18870 North Commonwealth Avenue around 11:53 p.m. regarding a crash.
First responders arrived on the scene and found a 49-year-old Lakeland man deceased inside a 2021 Toyota Corolla LE.
A 34-year-old Orlando man driving a 2021 Mazda CX9 was found with serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital.
During an investigation, deputies found that the Mazda had been traveling north on Commonwealth Avenue and crossed the center line hitting the Toyota head-on, according to PCSO.
This is an ongoing investigation.
