One dead, one seriously injured in a single-vehicle crash in Walton County

 On Sunday, the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a single-vehicle fatality in Walton County.

Florida Highway Patrol officials said the crash happened just after 4:30 p.m. on Interstate 10 eastbound near mile maker 93. The crash involved a 27-year-old driver from Santa Rosa Beach and a 22-year-old passenger from DeFuniak Springs, officials said.

According to a news release, a red GMC pickup truck was traveling east and lost control while on the wet roadway. The vehicle ran off the roadway, overturned, and collided with a tree line, FHP officials wrote.

The driver and passenger were transported to local hospitals.

Officials said the driver of the vehicle had serious injuries and the passenger sustained injuries that resulted in his death.
