Pedestrian struck and killed by car while crossing mid-block: PBSO

A pedestrian died early Thursday morning after being struck by a vehicle while crossing a road in Boynton Beach.

The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office (PBSO) did not release any information about the pedestrian other than saying he was a 46-year-old man.

The man was crossing State Road 7 shortly before 6 a.m. and was mid-block at the time, investigators determined. They found the Nissan Altima that hit him was in the inside lane, heading south at the time of the collision.

The report noted that the Altima had right of way when the individual cut in front of the car. The driver stopped immediately after the crash, it noted.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene, PBSO stated. At the time of the report, the next of kin had not been notified.
