Pedestrian walking in southbound lane of US-19 killed by vehicle: Florida Highway Patrol

A pedestrian who was unknowingly walking in the outside lane of US-19 was killed after a vehicle struck him the day after Christmas.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the 50-year-old Arkansas man was walking in the outside travel lane of southbound US-19 at around 6:20 p.m. on Thursday.

Near North Champion Point, a 24-year-old Ocala man driving a Chevy Silverado struck the man.

FHP said the pedestrian died at the scene of the crash.

It remains unknown as to why the man was walking in the middle of the road.
